Frequently asked questions
Common questions about short links, tracking, pixels, data ownership and 連.
What is a short link?
A short link shrinks a long URL into a compact link that redirects to the original on click. A good shortener does more than shorten — it lets you change the destination, track clicks, A/B-test and retarget.
Are short links safe?
The technology is neutral; safety depends on the provider. 連 automatically scans destinations when you create a link and blocks phishing/malware URLs to protect the whole shared domain from being blacklisted. You can also add password protection and expiry.
Is 連 (link.luvai.net) free?
Yes. The free tier lets you create up to 100 links with A/B & device routing, /suffix source tracking, FB/GA4/GTM retargeting pixels, click analytics, a QR & UTM builder, password protection and expiry.
Can I customize the slug?
Yes. Set your own slug when creating a link (e.g. link.luvai.net/spring), or leave it blank for a random one. Slugs are lowercased, so a casing mismatch never turns into a dead link.
Does changing the destination change the URL?
No. That's 連's core value — change the destination without changing the URL. Swap campaigns or move a landing page in the dashboard; every link you already posted or printed keeps working.
Does 連 have a REST API?
Yes. Generate an API key in the dashboard to create/manage links programmatically over a REST API — 1,000 free calls/month with usage metering. Docs at /developers.
Who owns my click data?
You do. Links, clicks and audience data all live in your own Cloudflare D1 at the edge, with no third party reading your traffic — the biggest difference from most cloud shorteners.
Can I track click sources?
Yes. Built-in device / OS / source / country / hour / suffix / A-B-variant analytics, plus /suffix tags (e.g. /spring/ig, /spring/edm) for per-channel counts, a read-only shareable stats link and CSV export.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. 連 supports custom branded domains (e.g. go.yourbrand.com), bound after a DNS TXT ownership check — which also satisfies Taiwan's NCC SMS-whitelist rule requiring an enterprise-owned domain.
Does it support QR codes?
Yes. Every link can generate a QR code; because changing the destination doesn't change the URL, a printed QR stays valid forever and can be repointed later.
